Welcome to our Next Adventure – Hiking 400km on the Great Divide Trail!
The route follows the Great Divide (also known as the Continental Divide) and runs from the US border near Waterton (Glacier National Park in Montana) North. We are ending our adventure in at Field BC after 30 odd days in the amazing Rocky Mountains of Alberta and BC.
Karyn H and Cathy T will be joining us for leg 1 which is marked by blue triangles on the map. Rob joins the four of us at leg 2 (Yellow Triangles). Claire A, Gwen A, and Keith A join us for legs 3 and 4 (blue and yellow dots). We aren’t sure why our friends keep signing up for these adventures but we are sure glad they have.
We have 3 resupplies planned and an incredible resupply crew. Kristy R, James H, Sheryl H, Rob P, and Anne M are an intrepid crew willing to manage our stinky and thirsty selves as we emerge from the woods ready to put heavy food back in our packs!
Just like the Canol Road, we will be using our InReach Mini to track our progress (and using it for route find along the way). This means you can follow along!
Please don’t panic if you don’t see updates after August 4th – our subscription ends on that date so you will have to wait until we get to Field to learn about the last few days of our trip! Don’t worry…we will still be able to call for help if we need it…
The Map
*This map works best on a desktop and it can take a while to load*
This map will be updated throughout the day and when we mark waypoints like our campsites etc…
If you don’t see blue and yellow triangles on the map, you will need to either zoom in OR move the map to just West of Calgary, North of Montana, East of Vancouver, and South of Edmonton.
More Information on how to use the map is located below.
The section on the left shows all the waypoints and info we have sent to the map.
Scroll to the section titled Collections to find the waypoints associated with each leg of the trip. (GDT Leg 1-4). When we are on the trail you will see little dots and flags that we leave along the way.
To see more of the map, look for a little arrow in the middle of the screen to collapse this section. The section on the right works like any other online map.
